Park that attracts certain so-called marginal populations in Amsterdam at nightfall
The Oosterpark (Eastern Park) owes its reputation to its former status as a meeting place for the local youth of the Sixties. This 12-hectare park, which is less gentrified than the Vondelpark, attracts a number of so-called fringe groups at nightfall, imbuing the area with an alternative spirit and a strong whiff of natural narcotics. This green space has been tastefully renovated. Note the beautiful monument to slavery by Erwin de Vries, divided into three parts: past, present and future. A benchmark!
