SPUI

Spui is the city's literary square that we love so much. Three excellent bookshops are located here. This square was the center of the Provo protest movement in the 1960s, and a spirit of freedom seems to reign here. The square's cafés (Hoppe, de Zwart or Luxembourg) are perfect for soaking up the Dutch air de vivre. Every weekday evening, especially Thursday, is borrel time , the sacrosanct after-work drink. It's a pity that the hot dog food truck regularly disturbs the photogenic atmosphere.
