It is one of two Luxor theaters in the city, the other being the Nieuwe Luxor (New Luxor, in the Kop van Zuid district). The Oude Luxor, or "Old Luxor", is a historic landmark building that was inaugurated in 1917, and is particularly appreciated for its intimate atmosphere and classic charm. The varied program includes comedies, cabarets, concerts, plays and comedy shows, usually in Dutch. Despite its modest size, it's the cultural heart of Rotterdam for some locals.
