Discovery of the zoo, one of the most modern in Europe, with special programs for children
Discover Rotterdam Zoo, recognized as one of Europe's most modern zoos, which welcomes around 1.5 million visitors every year. The park is home to animals from all five continents, living in vast areas recreating their natural habitats (tropical forests, marshes, steppes, caves, etc.). You can observe a wide variety of pachyderms, mammals and monkeys, as well as rare specimens of birds, reptiles, insects and fish.
A tower equipped with a transparent elevator allows you to rise to over 50 meters to admire an overall view of the site and its occupants. The Oceanium, an impressive tropical aquarium, deserves particular attention, not least thanks to its magnificent shark and sea turtle tunnel.
The zoo stands out for its impeccable cleanliness, its many regularly renewed attractions and the attention to detail in the presentation of the various areas. Special programs for children are available, and it's advisable to book a guided tour in French, as explanations are mainly in Dutch and sometimes in English. These tours are led by enthusiastic volunteers, and a token contribution is requested to support the zoo's projects. Reservations must be made in advance. Don't miss Amazonica, a superb tropical butterfly pavilion. Restaurants and cafés are also on site to enhance your visit. An online map application is available.
