Catalyst bridge for tourism and urban movement composed of wooden boards on which the names of the donors are carved

The bridge connects Rotterdam North with the city center, revitalizing a long-neglected area. A veritable catalyst for tourism and urban dynamism, this impressive achievement was financed by crowdfunding. The 390-meter-long pedestrian bridge, inaugurated in June 2015, is made of wooden planks engraved with the names of over 2,000 donors to date. With its vibrant yellow color, this bridge is perfect for taking dynamic urban photos and illustrates Rotterdam's inventiveness and sense of community.

Luchtsingel Bridge.
Luchtsingel en néerlandais signifie « pont aérien ». Il s’agit d’une passerelle en bois longue de 400 mètres et qui relie le quartier autrefois enclavé de Hofplein aux autres quartiers de la ville. Avec l’aide d’un cabinet d’architecture, les habitants du quartier Hofplein avaient lancé un financement participatif pour que soit créée cette structure. Désormais, les piétons peuvent relier Hofplein au reste de l’agglomération, en toute sécurité, sans avoir à traverser la voie rapide ni même la ligne de chemin de fer. Sur les planches de la passerelle peintes en jaune sont gravés les noms des différents donateurs.
