MINIWORLD ROTTERDAM
Model train museum offering a behind the scenes tour to learn more about this wonderful attraction
Just a few minutes' walk from Central Station, Miniworld (formerly known as Railz Miniworld) presents a realistic fictional setting of the Netherlands, spanning over 650 m². These imaginary Netherlands are impressively realistic, with typical villages, the coastline, a polder, a harbor inspired by Rotterdam, and some of the buildings more lifelike than real. These are crossed by 1.4 km of track, over 340 points and more than 70 model trains! The fully-automated circuit is as realistic as it gets, and includes such comical elements as a platoon of cyclists passing through a village, an accident with the emergency services arriving to the rescue, hitchhikers at the gas station, animals, children at play and bathers.
The entire circuit is constantly enriched with new elements, and to bring the show to its climax, night "falls" every 24 minutes, making this wonderful world of enthusiasts shine with a thousand lights. A behind-the-scenes guided tour lets you find out more about this wonderful attraction and see what goes on behind the scenes, including the trains in the underground station when they're not on stage. In addition to the Netherlands, an extension is currently under construction to represent England, Wales and Scotland.
It's the largest indoor miniature world in the Benelux, and one not to be missed. A restaurant is also available on site.
