TOWN HALL-STADHUIS
City Hall, the only remnant of the earlier building destroyed by a terrible fire in 1618 in Delft
Built in a neoclassical style by Hendrik de Keyser in 1619, it offers a view of one of the few belfries in this part of the Netherlands, the only remains of the former building destroyed by a terrible fire in 1618. In the wedding hall, we can see some portraits of the Princes of Orange. Part of the building dates from the 13th century. De Keyser rebuilt around the central tower (Oude Steen, old stone). Of note, this central tower includes a former torture room. A monument that is one of the city's classics.
