The Palais des congrès is a vast complex of buildings, including a 17-storey triangular tower covering nearly 5 ha. Built in the 1960s according to the plans of several architects, including J.-J.-P. Oud, a former member of De Stijl, the palace exhibits numerous sculptures, paintings and tapestries as well as, in the main entrance, mosaics by Karel Appel, a member of the Cobra movement. The main hall is designed to accommodate 3,000 people on three floors.
