The Westfries Museum is housed in the former Statencollege, a national monument dating from 1632. It offers a fascinating panorama of the cultural riches of the city and surrounding area, focusing on the 17th century. In January 2005, while celebrating its 125th anniversary, it was the victim of a spectacular theft in which 21 paintings were stolen. Fortunately, these works were returned to the museum a few years ago. Since January 2023, the museum has been undergoing renovation.
