ST. LAWRENCE CHURCH
Brabant Gothic church, now used as an exhibition and concert venue in Alkmaar
Built of stone and brick, this Brabantine Gothic "grote Sint-Laurenskerk" dates from the late 15th century. Inside, its beautiful wooden vaults are said to provide exceptional acoustics. Its two renowned organs were built in the 17th century by Jacob van Campen. Today, it is used as an exhibition space and regularly hosts concerts. The church also boasts a generous collection of sacred art, some of which is now on display at the Rijkmuseum.
