PROVINCIEHUIS
A beautiful building of the provincial states, a great facade of neo-Renaissance style, a very pleasant place
Just behind the Martinikerk is the superb building of the provincial government. The large façade dates from 1916, and was designed by architect J.-A. Vrijman in a highly successful neo-Renaissance style. The façade on the left is much older, dating from 1559. It comes from another building and was transposed to this location. To the left is Groningen's smallest street, nicknamed Little Mustache. The surrounding garden is sweetly nicknamed "Queen's Walk". It's a very pleasant place, a little out of time.
