A beautiful Berlage-style house in Groningen, home to the Toyisme Studio, and a contemporary art gallery
This magnificent house was the home of Dr. Gerard Heymans, a philosopher and psychologist who was attached to the city's university in 1890. It was designed in 1894 by the illustrious architect Berlage (author of the Amsterdam Stock Exchange, among other things) with the mission of building a house and a psychology laboratory. The Berlage style is easily recognizable with the master's favorite forms and materials. Nowadays, the building houses the Toyisme Studio, a contemporary art gallery. It is a listed building since 1995 for its cultural and historical value.
