GROTE KERK
Grote Kerk an oldest building in the city, a church housing royal vaults, and an organ, located in Leeuwarden
Construction of this church began before 1300, and continued after 1500. It is the oldest building in the city. For centuries, Frisian members of the Nassau family, direct ancestors of the Dutch royal family, were buried here. Leeuwarden, Breda and Delft are the only 3 cities in the country to have royal vaults. The church's organ, built by Christian Müller between 1724 and 1727, is highly acclaimed. Mass is celebrated here every Sunday at 10am. It also hosts numerous concerts in summer.
