FRIES MUSEUM
Frisian Museum the largest attraction in Friesland, and also featuring sections devoted to furniture and archaeology
The Fries Museum is the city's biggest attraction, attracting hundreds of thousands of visitors every year. The collection is as extensive as it is diverse: it includes many golds and silvers and a number of paintings, including a portrait of Saskia van Uylenburgh, Rembrandt's first wife. Other sections include those devoted to furniture, the textile industry, archaeology and the life of the sultry dancer Mata Hari. The building also houses the Museum of the Resistance, an integral part of the Fries Museum.
