A charming and authentic harbor village in the south of the island, with small wooden houses and an inevitable sailors' pub
't Horntje is a charming village at the southern end of the island of Texel. Charming and authentic, it owes its development to the relocation of the jetty in the 1960s. Two institutes are based here: the National Institute for Sea Studies and a branch of the Wageningen Institute. The lighthouse, once at the center of the village, has been relocated. The small wooden houses and the inevitable sailors' pub, facing the pier, are still there. It's an ideal starting point for walks in the surrounding protected nature reserves.
