WALLOON CHURCH
Walloon church in a sober baroque style, with many elements of Louis style, and famous organs in Maastricht
The Walloon Church, also known as the French Church of Maastricht, was built partly over the river Jeker. Construction took 22 months, and the church was inaugurated on December 6, 1733. It underwent extensive restoration work in 1908. The church features numerous Louis XIV and Louis XV elements, as well as a remarkably well-preserved organ dating from 1743. The sober Baroque style has been a protected monument since 1966. The building is now used during the week for social and cultural purposes.
