MUSEUMKEL DERLON
Museum with meticulous excavations, incredible archaeological finds, and a cellar with Roman remains
Careful excavations prior to the construction of the Hôtel Derlon uncovered some incredible archaeological finds. The cellar contains Roman remains from the 2nd, 3rd and 4th centuries, a well from the 3rd century and a Celtic road dating from the5th century BC. The entrance is not in the hotel, but in the adjacent street on the right. A funny little detail not to be missed: Hotel Derlon, a 4-star hotel on the Onze Lieve Vrouweplein, has added a5th star, the one that is the symbol of Maastricht. Local humor, as it were.
