Medina is a housing complex built in 1999 on the site of the old medieval city limits. Medina means "old city" in Arabic. The plans for the complex are part of a larger urban project overseen by the illustrious Dutch architect Jo Coenen, author of the OBA, Amsterdam's public library. This area of hanging gardens has made the city center greener and attracted wildlife. The site includes 58 apartments and 15 apartments/workshops, as well as a number of boutiques.
