Gandamack Lodge is a bar-café in Kabul. It offers modern rooms overlooking a large garden, as well as a pleasant restaurant serving a hearty Western-style breakfast. Prices are those of Afghanistan, but should start to come down. Security is tight, with an armed guard at the entrance, high walls and armored doors. In the basement is Kabul's only nightclub, frequented by NGOs, journalists and a few "Free Lance" to add to the atmosphere. Traveler reviews also highlight the cleanliness and security of the establishment. However, it is important to note that the authorities currently recommend avoiding travel to Afghanistan due to civil unrest and high security risks.
