The mosque is on the river side on the left bank. Yellow and blue, she is still covered with pigeons. Its construction was ordered by the mother of King Amanullah on the location of an ancient mosque of 1544. His name means «the king's mosque with both swords», referring to a legend about the arrival of Islam in Kabul. This legend evokes an Islamic commander who fell here in the th century in a battle that he led to handle a sword in every hand, while his head was determined. He is buried on the site of the Hindu temple that he sought to destroy, and his tomb is now in the sanctuary in front of the mosque whose door is decorated with wood.
The painted brick mosque is built in néogrec style, with two floors of columns with capitals. It is made up of two fairly large minarets. It was restored by the Turks in 2002.
