Originally British, this cemetery today hosts several nationalities. Sir Aurel Stein, a major explorer in Central Asia, dead in 1940, was buried there, just like many British soldiers. Others are tourists from the years 1960-1970, dead accidentally, Germans, active in the region in the 1930 s, and ISAF military personnel. Also a French, Bettina Goislard, humanitarian to the Office of the High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), murdered in Ghazni in November 2003, who wanted to be buried in the country. The guard, the Muslim Afghan, has been working in this cemetery for years. This is a living memory!
