BAGH-I-BALA
This is one of the favourite walks of the Afghans on Fridays. The park is full of pine trees and its aisles are very well maintained.
The palace in which we pass is a former royal summer residence, built in 1893 by Abdur Rahman. It is here that he died. The rectangular building consists of five domes. It is possible to visit it. There are some very beautiful pieces inside, but, as a whole, it is dilapidated. From here the sight is sublime.
The palace that we are looking for was restored in 1966 and transformed into a restaurant, frequented today by the easy class of Kabul. During the civil war, between 1992 and 1996, it was used by the people and, under the Taliban, served as headquarters. Today, it is more or less restored.
