In the north of the country, all the cities - most of them independent - had their citadel in the th century. In the mid th century, the Kunduz Citadel was the Fortress and residence of the fearsome Murad Beg, an influential Uzbek city of the city. His power was respected until Kabul. The English flew the crane to Kabul until Murad Beg agreed to Receive them. Powerful for many years, he was deposed in 1839 by one of his rivals. And Kunduz then fell under the control of the city of Khulm.
There is nothing left of this citadel, although it is possible to realize how it was built. The walls, of which there are remains, were made of sun-dried bricks. Archaeological research conducted by Japanese in 1963 resulted in the updating of Islamic objects and a few traces of kouchan presence. From the site of the citadel, we have a magnificent view on the plains of Turkestan.
