Located in the heart of the city, east of the Spinghar Hotel, the Seruj-ul-Emorat palace was built by Amir Pazira, circa 1910. It is said that he himself would have overseen the work. After the assassination of Pazira in 1919, the palace was used as a government hotel by his son, King Amanullah (1919-1929) until it was damaged and abandoned after the tribal revolts in 1928. The garden, which is very pleasant, is open to the public.
