This colorful octagonal building is a mausoleum dedicated to the father of Afghanistan, Ahmad Shah Durrani, the founder of the nation. It was inaugurated under the first pashtun dynasty (1747-1772). It is one of the few monuments remaining in perfect condition and, even today, thousands of Afghans are getting there. In Mughal style, built in beige-shaped bricks, it features a dome covered with turquoise ceramics, octagonal facades and pinnacles on the corners of the facades. The porches shall be decorated with floral and geometric motifs. The floor is made of marble.
