THE MAUSOLEUM OF SULTAN MAHMUD
Here lies the tomb of the Sultan Mahmud of the Ghaznavides Dynasty, the one who made Ghazni the brilliant capital of his empire. The current Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iran and part of India, all these territories were conquered by Mahmud. His tomb is located in the Bagh-e-Firuzi (the victory garden), also called Victory Garden, the Sultan's favourite garden. Today, this garden is called Rawza (garden of the sanctuary). The current building is shaped as a square, surmounted by a dome. A first renovation was carried out in the th century, the roof was protected by a zinc sheet.
The sultan's tomb is beautiful. It is made of marble, decorated with baroque details. The doors have kept their floral sculptures, painted green and decorated with wrought. On the tombstone, inscriptions are engraved, but the tomb is covered with a cloth. In the past, this well irrigated garden garden has grown in vegetation. Today, it is dry.
