THE NATIONAL ART GALLERY
Formerly called "Rwesero Arts Museum", this building of beautiful architectural value was completed in 1958 and was destined to become the palace of King Mutara III Rudahigwa. But the king died before its inauguration on July 25, 1959. From then on, the building was used for other purposes: as the seat of the Supreme Court, then the Court of Cassation, the Court of Auditors and finally the General Prosecutor's Office. It was decided in 2003 to convert it into a museum. Since then the majority of the museum's objects have been moved to Kigali, to the Rwanda Art Museum.
