HOUSE-MUSEUM OF THE PAINTER JOSÉ CERCAS
House-workshop-museum exhibiting a collection of tableware and sacred art, with paintings and drawings.
The painter José Cercas, a native of the town, bequeathed his house and studio and all his possessions to the Aljezur Town Council. His last wish was for the city to create a museum there to perpetuate the memory of his work. This is the case and the museum was established in 1995, three years after his disappearance. A lover of antique objects, he left a precious collection made of pieces of crockery, sacred art, furniture but also of his own works, paintings and drawings.
