NOSSA SENHORA DA GUADALUPE
Chapel near Raposeira, close to the Manueline style, known as the oldest in the Algarve, according to legend.
Near Raposeira, however, this little-used chapel is known to be the oldest in the Algarve (14th century) and according to legend, Henry the Navigator used to come here to meditate. Dating back to the Templars, it was restored in the 15th century. The roped style of the stone columns evokes the close proximity of the Manueline style. An enigma lies in the presence of sculptures representing plants and human heads sticking out their tongues, probably pagan figures.
