GARE FERROVIAIRE C.P.
Lagos is at the end of the line that crosses east to west much of the Algarve, and whose terminal at the other end is located in Vila Real of Santo António (via Portimão, Faro…). Count about a dozen a day. Possibility also to reach Lisbon (five daily trains by changing to Tunes, two Inter Cidade, two Inter Regional and two express trains Alpha Penular) and Alentejo (twice a day for each district capital: Beja via Funcheira and Evora via Casa Branca).
The Lagos-Vila Real line of San Antonio marks about thirty stops for so many towns and villages. Among the main ones: Meia Praia (4 min journey), Portimão (19 min), Ferragudo (22 min), Silves (35 min), Alcantarilha (46 min), Albufeira (1 hour 8 min), Loulé (1 hour 23 min), Almancil (1 hour 28 min), O (1 hour 50 min), Olhão (2 hours 7 min), Fuzeta (2 hours 19 min), Tavira (2 hours 33 min), Castro Marim (2 hours 53 min), and of course Vila Real from Santo Antonio (3 hours 2 min). From Lagos, the first train for Vila Real leaves at 6:59 a. m. and 6:16 a. m. for Portimao, the last at 8:01 p. m. The times indicated correspond to the best possible coordination. Not all trains cover the entire distance. Depending on the distance traveled, the train may be more expensive than the bus. It takes € 2.05 for Portimão, 7.40 € for Faro and 10.60 € for Vila Real.
