SLAVE MARKET
Museological space featuring jewelry, coins and slave skeletons discovered during the construction of a parking lot.
This museum space is dedicated to the memory of slaves. The building is located on the square where slaves from Africa were sold as early as 1444. The first slave market in Europe, the Mercado de Escravos, took place here. Jewellery, coins and skeletons discovered during work on a car park are on display. On the first floor, the successive functions of customs, guard house and military prison were carried out. The interest of the place lies solely in the transmission of awareness of the history of slavery.
