Hiking trail in Lagos, not recommended for people with vertigo or children, crossing several beaches.
A hiking trail connects Pinhão beach (about 500 metres from the city centre ramparts) to the beach in the north, Praia da Luz. This trail - not recommended for people sensitive to vertigo and children - crosses about ten beaches, including the magnificent Praia Dona Ana, Praia Grande, Praia Porto de Mós and Ponta da Piedade. Moreover, few tourists are familiar with this trail, which is mainly used by the inhabitants of Lagos. Allow two hours of walking to make the trip. But the show is worth it. How can we remain unaffected by the charm of these beaches surrounded by cliffs that erosion has taken the time to carve for centuries? In the sun, the magic of colours operates then, the ochre of the walls contrasting with the turquoise blue of the sea, the fine sand in addition.
Preferable to the Praia de Dona Ana, which is overrun by hotels and casemates, Porto de Mós beach is quieter. It has two restaurants, and bus No. 14 takes you there from 9am to 6pm, five times a day, except on Sundays and public holidays. Campervans are accepted on the car park, toilets, showers from 10am to 5pm. On the road to Ponta da Piedade, do not miss the site with its cliffs cut by the sea.
Some monolithic rocks rise from the waves, forming kinds of natural caves that can be visited by boat. We go down the cliff with the ropes that are there for that. Despite everything, be careful, it slips. Part of the beach is naturist.
