"The meeting point for the whole family"
If you're vacationing in Vilamoura with your family and you've never been to Family Golf Park, you don't know what you're missing. Right in the center of Vilamoura, this theme park has everything you need for a splendid family day out.
Inaugurated in August 1997, Family Golf Park is the result of a trip to the USA based on the experience of American miniature golf.
In the absence of similar facilities in Portugal's Algarve region, the promoter of this project acquired land near the Roman ruins of Vilamoura and developed a theme park.
Originally designed by architect Margarida Quirino, along two courses of 18 holes each - players of all ages - can play minigolf, learn about the history of the Romans' passage through the Iberian Peninsula at every hole they play, admire the 9,000 m2 of botanical diversity, and the construction of replicas inspired by Roman architecture with the background sounds of waterfalls and fountains scattered along the circuits.
The base is minigolf, but the offer goes further, with an emotional and sensory experience that will be unforgettable for many.
The original courses are classic adventure, however, one of the courses has recently been updated as Crazygolf and the other has retained classic minigolf to offer different types of entertainment.
In 2023, Family Golf Park entered the Top 10 of the WMF World Adventure Golf Tour with the best minigolf adventure courses in the world, hosting a world tour stop on November 18 and 19 to count towards the rankings. (https:/www.wmfwagtour.com)
What began as a man's dream has become a benchmark in the region, welcoming over 60,000 visitors a year and serving as a "meeting point for the whole family".
Unfortunately, despite being the ‘Family Golf
Park’, we felt the staff were generally pretty grumpy and not friendly. The food was adequate.
Lovely fountains and statues and information boards as you walk around. Shady areas as well if you are waiting your turn.
Definitely recommend. Families with children seemed to all be able to access it too.
Nice drink and ice cream in the cafe as well whilst adding up the scores!!
