MILREU RUINS
Ruins of a perfectly preserved mosaic fish pool in Faro, worth a visit for its later history.
These Roman ruins are best known for the perfectly preserved fish mosaic swimming pool in one of the thermal baths. But the complex structure of this former seigneurial residence from the time of the Roman Empire (2nd century AD) is also worth a visit for its later history. It served the first Christians in the region as a church and then as a mosque during the Muslim period. You will observe the structure of the ruined residence still visible on the ground as well as its tower that comes out of the decor.
