Faro's beaches are located on islands forming long strips of golden sand beyond the lagoon. These are the islands: Ilha do Faro, Ilha de Barreta (or Deserta) and Ilha do Farol. Easily accessible, you can take the ferry to reach them. To get to Ilha do Faro, you can take the car or the bus since it is connected to the mainland by a bridge with alternating traffic. The Praia de Faro is a popular family destination among the Portuguese, with the advantage of being supervised by lifeguards in the summer.

Un endroit délicieusement suranné, à quelques encablures de l'aéroport. L'ile s'étend tout en longueur. De délicieuses authentiques cabanes de pêcheurs jouxtent les deux coté, (mer et lagune). J'y étais hors saison (cela a sans doute de l'importance) : l'ambience est très calme ; une ballade sur le bord de la lagune permet de se plonger tranquillement dans l'ambience. La plage côté mer est très agréable.

En hiver la plage de Faro est un lieu de ballade agréable. L'accès y est facile par le bus qui conduit à l'aéroport. On y trouve des restaurants qui servent quelques plats locaux.

Except summer, huge beaches of the Algarve are extremely pleasant. Especially those that border the Ria Formosa lagoon (in the west and east of Faro) are very little urbanised. To get there, a ferry often should be taken. That of Faro is one of which is accessible on foot (with Barril near Tavira) and only accessible you drive (at least except periods of affluence, for which a large car park has been built before the bridge and it is necessary to get there on foot or by bus).
The island is a little " urbanisée" ; in fact, except for the central part with a few bars and restaurants, mostly low small houses. Walks on the beach and the lagoon is very pleasant, even if the airport is very close.

La plage est plutôt sympa. Vous pourrez y passer facilement la journée. De plus, vous aurez accès à pleins de restaurants.
