Old town featuring a completely refurbished cathedral with bell tower, with a terrace offering panoramic views over Faro.

Enter via the Arco da Vila at the southern end of the marina. You lose yourself in the narrow, timeless streets until you come to the Largo da Sé, where Faro Cathedral has been enthroned amidst orange trees for centuries. Completely rebuilt after the 1755 earthquake, it is adorned with beautiful 17th-century azulejos. The only remaining Gothic vestige is the bell tower. Panoramic view of Faro from the bell tower terrace. Behind it, the old town hall and bishop's palace complete the picture of the historic center.

La vieille ville de Faro est très sympa.Vous pourrez vous balader, visiter des musées...
Il y a pleins de restaurants et le centre est très animé le soir.

D'un accès facile (grand parking sur le Largo de Sao Francisco au sud-est de la vieille ville), le centre historique est très intéressant à parcourir. Bien entendu, il ne faut pas manquer la Sé, sa cour ("cloître") reposante, sa belle église avec un orgue décoré de manière très originale (peintures chinoises), et sa tour qui offre des vues splendides sur la lagune (Ria Formosa) et sur les nids de cigognes.
