MINA DE SAL-GEMA
It's hard to imagine that beneath the town of Loulé lies a labyrinth of galleries with geological formations of rock salt that are 230 million years old. An elevator will take you down 230 meters below ground, where you'll be greeted by a statuette of Santa Bárbara, the patron saint of miners, and begin your visit along a 1.3 km pathway, where you'll discover not only the rock salt formations, their colors and applications (exported to France for snow removal), but also the extraction activity that runs parallel to the visit.
