Romanesque church transformed in the Baroque period, housing a chapel with a Baroque altarpiece in gilded wood, the work of Manuel Martins.

This Romanesque church, transformed in the Baroque period, is entirely covered in azulejos. The walls and vault depict the life of St. Lawrence, an impressive work created around 1730 by Policarpo Bernardes, and one of the most extraordinary ensembles of its kind in the whole country. The Matriz church was built in the 18thcentury , with a single nave and a main chapel. Of particular note is the Baroque altarpiece in gilded wood at the back of the main chapel, the work of Manuel Martins.
