ROMAN RUINS OF SÃO CUCUFATE
This villa, dating from the first century AD, is one of the few residential buildings from this period that have been preserved to this day.
Before your eyes is an impressive Roman villa dating from the 1st century AD. It is one of the few residential buildings of this period that have been preserved to this day and which have several floors. Lost in the middle of the Alentejo steppe, in Vidigueira, not far from Beja, the building served as a monastery for more than a thousand years, before being abandoned in the 17th century. Make a detour without hesitation if you hadn't planned it.
