The Basilica's Treasure Museum is well stocked with monstrances that were part of the personal collection of King João V.
A relic of royal power, the Basilica of Castro Verde is known throughout the country under several names, including that of Royal Basilica. The entire interior is entirely covered with magnificent 18th century azulejos depicting scenes from the Battle of Ourique (25 July 1139). The small treasure museum of the basilica is particularly well equipped with monstrances that were part of King João V's (1689-1750) personal collection.
