The Paleochristian Basilica is located in the Rossio do Carmo neighborhood.
The Early Christian Basilica is located in the Rossio do Carmo district, already known for its archaeological importance by the end of the 19th century. In the 1980s, excavations uncovered the foundations of a basilica and dozens of tombs and funerary slabs dating from the5th to 8th centuries A.D. Some of these are still sealed and can be seen on the site, alongside columns and capitals. In addition to tombstones, the excavations have also uncovered jewelry, mosaic fragments and ceramics.
