To see the waterfall of the "jump of the wolf" (whose legend suggests that a ferocious beast or werewolf would be capable of jumping over this difference in altitude), at an altitude of about thirty metres, you should prefer the right bank path indicated on the Mértola-Beja road. It is a site where the majestic Guadiana river gets carried away as it becomes a torrent and flows through gorges. Two platforms with black ledges on different coasts allow the observation of a geomorphological accident caused by the collapse of the sea level in the Quaternary period.
