PALACIO FILCALHO
The aqueduct of this palace built in the seventeenth century is one of the symbols of Serpa.
While in Serpa, don't miss the opportunity to visit this manor house, which has only been open to the public since 2021. Built in the 17th century, the home of the Mello family, Counts and Marquises of Ficalho, dominates the imposing, deliberately austere lower town. Its aqueduct, integrated into the city walls, is one of Serpa's symbols. The tour, guided by Matilde Mello in person and by appointment, allows visitors to see the historic part of the building, the Quintalão garden and part of the walls, and to imagine the life of the lords at different times.
