ILHA DO PESSEGUEIRO
This island has been populated since prehistoric times, then by the Carthaginians before the Punic War.
In summer, small boats ply back and forth between Porto Covo and Pessegueiro. This island deserves more than a detour: it has been inhabited since prehistoric times, then by the Carthaginians before the Punic War (3rd century BC), and served as a port center in Roman times. A haven for pirates for centuries, it was necessary to build a wall to protect it from them. Attacks continued unabated until Pedro II ordered the construction of a new fort. Magnificent views from here.
