IGREJA NOSSA SENHORA DA LAGOA
A church with a sculpture by Gomes Martins Sivestre that represents a Templar knight and the people of Monsaraz.
The church disappeared during the reign of João I and was rebuilt when the Black Death swept through the countryside. After the devastation caused by the epidemic, it was decided to rebuild a church in 1561, in the Renaissance style. The gilded altar and the wooden sculptures of Santa Agostinho and Santa Monica are remarkable. The most significant work is the sculpture by Gomes Martins Sivestre representing a Templar knight and the people of Monsaraz. The font is made of Estremoz marble.
