CAFÉ ALENTEJO

This large room with its bright orange walls is sheltered by large arcades, giving it the air of a temple to local gastronomy. It's one of the best places in Évora to enjoy quality regional cuisine (and wines): the oxtail with red wine sauce is a delight, the migas a alentejana (pan-fried pork) are excellent, the rice with duck and the grilled lamb chops a delight... If you're lucky, you can finish your meal listening to fado under the dimmed lights. Service, sometimes in French, enhances the evening.
