DA AGUA DE PRATA AQUEDUCT
This aqueduct, dating from the 16th century, starts from the Rua do Cano and crosses a good part of the Alto Alentejo.
The astonishing aqueduct, whose poetic name means "silver water" and dates back to the 16th century, runs from Rua do Cano through much of the Alto Alentejo. Some of the houses along the way were built just below its arches, making it very picturesque. The adjacent Largo Chão das Covas is one of the street's oldest public spaces. Its name, "the well that keeps the bread", comes from the presence of grain silos dug into the ground in medieval times and used to make wheat or barley bread.
