FLOR DA ROSA MONASTERY
This monastery built by Prior Álvaro Gonçalves Pereira in the 14th century is now home to one of the famous pousadas.
This monastery is considered a major example of a fortified monastery in the Iberian Peninsula. It was built by Prior Álvaro Gonçalves Pereira in the 14th century. Today it houses one of the country's most famous pousadas. It comprises 3 parts: a fortified church, a Gothic palace-castle (remodeled in the 15th century) and the rest of the convent in Renaissance and Mudejar style. Over the centuries, the ensemble has undergone modifications, but its style has been preserved.
