This church, the oldest in Castelo de Vide, is small, massive and of great and beautiful simplicity.
Castelo de Vide's oldest church (13thcentury ) is small, massive and beautifully simple. Its ceiling is a semi-spherical vault resting on four trapezoidal ribs. It is covered with bluish azulejos (1695), depicting the Flight into Egypt, an episode from the Gospel according to Matthew. The church's main door features two transoms decorated with a Visigothic cross, while the south door features a human face carved into the closing.
