A route that brings together 58 monuments in northern Portugal, all of which have in common a Romanesque architecture in Amarante.
The Romanesque Art Route gathers 58 monuments in the north of Portugal (monasteries, churches, bridges, castles...) which all have in common a Romanesque architecture, characteristic of this region. This route offers three itineraries based on rivers: "Rio Sousa Valley Route" (19 monuments), "Tâmega Valley Route" (25 monuments) which passes through Amarante. And "Douro Valley Route" (14 monuments). The official website offers different experiences, with official guide, hotel and meals, but also invites you to create your own tour.
